Is it time?

Our 11 yr. old pug has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She won't take the meds. We were able to get her to take some of them but not enough to help her. She has stopped eating. She is drinking water. I have made special foods for her she will eat a couple bites then she doesn't want anymore. I have tried doggie ice cream treats, oatmeal, chicken and rice bland she doesn't want any of it. She sleeps alot. She finally had a bowel movement today after four days of none. Laila's urine has been very dark for days. I don't know what to do anymore. Is it time to think about the unthinkable. We are hurting our hearts are breaking.

I really feel for you Karen. You are trying your best and nothing seems to be working. Have you received advice from your vet? Are there any palliative treatments which still may help her recover some decent quality of life?

If you have exhausted all options, it may be that her time on Earth is coming to an end, and the kindest thing is to let her go free.

This is a very hard decision I know. I ha dto make that ecision for my own dog when all I wanted was for us to be together, as we always were....

But do what is the most loving thing for her. She needs you and your bravery, right now.

Her love will not die. My own dog showed me that.
