I agree with ginger .I took on a two week old cocker spaniel as his mum had kicked him out .I found out the problem and it was that he was born blind. The bond between us was incredible I became his eyes .because he never knew any better he was a confident boy and knew every word I said and his senses were fantastic he brought so much joy to my life and I will always have a special place in my heart for him.

He died of natural causes 20 yrs ago but even now as I think of him tears come into my eyes,  thanks Marty I love you.

Anyway see what your vet says about it ! if he is healthy take him on ! it could be the best thing you ever did for this little baby. Also the problem could be miner.

Aren'T dogs wonderful .....how the hell do the mums know something is wrong. It all comes back to nature survival of the fittest.

I think there is a reason why she is not feeding him anymore. It is a sad reason. She senses something may be wrong with him, and is letting him die. That is what Nature's instincts do. Dogs often neglect or abandon the pups that may be sick or malformed.

I suggest you take this little pup straight away to the vet for a good examination. If then, in the vet's opinion, this little one is malformed and not going to make it, or not have a chance of normal development, he can suggest euthanizing the pup humanely.

I don't know all the facts, and can't see the pup, so do hope I have not said something that will upset you. But the vet will be able to tell you.
When you take the little one to the vet, keep it warm on the journey....just in case there is some hope..
