St. Bernard & Lyme disease

My St. Bernard was diagnosed with Lyme Disease Monday evening. She was limping for a few days and then it stopped and came back. We gave her an aspirin and it made her very sick, so we took her to vet and the the vet did a blood test that came back positive for Lyme. He gave us Amoxacilin and a med to settle her stomach. My problem is this, She is limping much worse today then she was on Monday. She is eating but not as much previous to Lyme. I lost a Saint to Lyme 8 years ago and do not want to lose another. She is such an awesome dog.

Thank you for your reply. I should have put in that yesterday, she saw a squirrel in the back yard and took off after it. My yard is fenced so she only ran about 175 ft. until she did that, she wasn't limping as badly as she is now. I have checked online as the recent poster after your post suggested to do and Amox. is listed as a treatment. Although Doxycycline is listed as primary med. I am more concerned with the damage that could be still progressing from the lyme since her limp is still so strong. Kind of wish she hadn't chased the damn squirrel.

Amoxicillin is NOT the treatment for Lyme Disease.......All Tick diseases are treated with Doxycycline or a Tetracycline...You need a second opinion & I'd do it tomorrow if possible.......Karla
