hello.
I have a two year old ol' english Bulldog, and 6 weeks ago he started walking quite funny.. I left it, shortly after noticing this, not even 4 hours later he would walk and scream. I took him to the emergency vet (since it was about midnight when i actually got to touch him, he would just hide and be alone), they said it was something to do with his hips, they gave us medication and said we should take him to are normal vet in a few days for a follow up.. That night after the hospital, Oscar didn't sleep. He tried to walk around the house, he'd sit down.. stand up.. sit down stand up.. So the next morning I took him to our Vet, The vet had to put him under JUST to touch his back leg. They did about 5 x-rays and it came back as a torn legitimate. We were giving medication and sent on our way. FIVE days later, My husband asked me if I've seen oscar eat today because he was bring up yellow and black liquid, I said NO, and he informed me that Oscar didn't eat the following day either. so that night i went out and bought some wet food for him and he ate a bit of that. The following day , he was again vomiting up just yellow and black liquids. I rushed him back to the vet.. He had a fever double of what it should of been. Blood was taken, NOW he has a blood infection. Given more medication and once again sent on our way.
It's been 6 weeks since we first found out about the "torn legitimates", last week Oscar wasn't eating AGAIN, and again he was very very warm.. We rushed him BACK to the vet his fever is now almost triple and the vet is surprised he isn't going into convolutions. The vet informed us that this is more than what we normally thought it was, He did a very very intense blood test (Pushing the needle up the vein for different stages of blood), and told us it might be ONE of THREE things..
1) Lyme Disease
2) His internal organs might be eating away at themselves
3) Systems Disease.
After being explained what each is, and how its caused, I was so mad, my husband walked me to the car where I cried while he went back into the vet to get Oscar.
Oscar has NEVER been bitten by a tick, NOR has he ever had fleas. We also have a cat, He is an indoor cat and only ONCE in his life has he been outside and that was April of this year he ran away from home, when he found him he had no fleas or anything. I'm SO mad that the vet said that he can only be sick with those 3 things, he is on the best tick and flea medication there is. I just don't understand.
I did phone our breeder who has BOTH Oscar's Mom, dad and BOTH sets of grandparents, She is at a lose of words, The only issues she's had with the litter Oscar came from is a little boy at 4 months ate a twig, and had to the it removed from his little belly.
I'm also going to be taking him see the vet she takes all her bullys too.
The question for everyone is.. Has anyone heard of this? starting out as a torn leg. than turning into a blood infection.. now we have no idea.. ANY infomation would help, everything at all..
Thank you for taking the time and reading our story
Love Oscar, Mom and Dad
