Yeast Infections

Hello,

I have a almost 2 yr old Weimeraner, not the one posted about the Chronic granulomatous cellulitis, that is a friend of ours.

Our weim is Boobers.  Ever since he was a puppy, he has had Chronic Yeast Infections, with the odour as well.  It can be anytime of the year.  Yogurt does not help.  He eats Nutro-Natural.  He is very particular in the food that he eats.
I have been told to research "raw" diets for him.  Do you think this may help with his ear issue?

thanks so much

Hi there, your assistance has been greatly appreciated.  I will call the vet and see about getting the DermaChlor Flush Plus...:)

Aren't there drops you can get from your vet for yeast infections?  Since it's localized to the ears, I'd think it would be easier to treat that way rather than systemically.  Yeast and other ear infections seem to occur more often in floppy-eared dogs rather than point-eared dogs like shepherds.  The flap just keeps the environment more moist and prone to fungal or bacterial growth.

We've discovered that simply cleaning the ear well with a Q-Tip once in a while really cuts down on ear problems.  We also dip the Q-Tip in DermaChlor Flush Plus (available from your vet) and it does a great job.  It's an anti-fungal, antiseptic wash that also helps with itching so the dog doesn't keep on scratching or biting or licking at whatever body part is causing the trouble.  Works great on our dog's feet too when she gets yeast growing in the summer.  Talk about some stinky feet!  Whew!  The DermaChlor knocks out the odor on contact and it only takes a couple applications to get rid of the yeast.  Usually lasts a good 6 weeks on her feet, so a whole bottle will last well over a year.
