arthritis in dog

i thought for the longest time that my 4 yr old carolina dog had hip dsyplasia since about 8 months old.  i got her back from doggie daycare when she was 8mo and she fell going up the steps.  then she was on my bed and i went to move her, she yelp and tried to bite me.  this behavior for her to this day is completely opposite of how she is-she's very submissive towards me.  even my vet said that it must be really bad on her 3 yr check up because she won't extend her back legs very far without yelping.  i got her x-rayed about 2 months ago and it turns out she has minor hip dsyplasia but arthritis in her back towards her tail and you can see bone spurs as well.  she suggested adequan shots which i will eventually do, but i was wondering what supplements can i give her to help as well.  now that the weather is getting colder she is getting more sore, and the fact that she has a husky sister who is turns 1 nov 22, keeps her constantly moving.  i know fish oil omega helps but what kind of fish?  cosequin has no effect and neither does gluc chondrotin really.

I just saw a tv magazine article about acupuncture for dogs in pain.  Sounded amazingly good.  Worth looking into.

My 2 year old Siberian husky was jut Dx with hip dysplasia and arthritis his specialist vet (a ortho vet) said salmon fish oil is the best and to make sure the salmon oil is 150-200 epa (eicopenteric acid) this is the omega 3 of the fish oil. He also said that a supplement call Dasuquin-MSM make sure it says MSM you can get it online( he said for small breed even though he is 50lbs.).
I would talk to your vet before you start anything and make sure it is OK for her to take, and whatthe safe dose for her size and weight, so talk to your vet she might also have other suggestion.

Do you have a pet store near by? Go in and ask to speak to someone there. I feel so bad for your pup. Just make sure she stays away from walking on sand like surfaces because that can be hard on her!
