boxers missing nail

hi iv a beautifull boxer ,, he,s ten and part of the family ,, but shown sizns of age ,, in his back legs if thats not bad enough he lost an nail today ,, its not bleeding but sore ,, any advice  ,,

talk about vets im waiting to get bubbles our cat spayed ,, iv been told watch for his van as its busy season with calf,s ,, thanks for advice

Did he lose the whole nail? Are you sure the shell of the nail isn't still in the toe?  You should at least wash it with anti-bacterial soap or soap and water and make sure you dry it well.  You can put some hydrogen peroxide wash over it but I would not do this more than once as it can damage tissue if used too much.  Watch for redness, swelling, etc.  It may not be a bad idea to at least call your Vet's office to let them know what happened and see what they advise.
