does morgan have parvo?

mogan is very happy and healthy 4 year old Pitt (brindle) but today she woke up (she sleeps with my husband and i )and just sat up straight? she just jumped up, we thought she wanted to go outside to use the bathroom, so we took her outside,she didnt walk far, then she ust sat, she didnt use the bathroom, we went back inside and she usually drinks water (bottled) in the morning, she would not drink or eat all day, she just sat their? around 3:30 pm she finally used the bathroom... normal... not watery.. she peed, still has not drank water or eaten? she just layed there??? could she have parvo, we have an appt. with her vet. tomarrow.

Oh I am SO glad to hear that good news about Morgan!
Dogs nearly always won't eat if they are in any kind of pain. Mine went without eating 1 day last year, when she had a sprained muscle in her leg. Times like that, humans would probably eat something, but dogs often refuse food if something hurts!

I hope her spinal injury isn't too bad.  Is it a disc prolapse? Or something else? What did the vet say about that?

Well now she is eating and drinking, she will keep up her strength.

hi, i just wanted to let you know, you were right! Morgan does not have parvo , thank god ! she injured her spine jumping on anf off our bed ( it's really high ) and my jeep, the vet said, dogs like her should not be jumping from high places, because pitts are very heavy and are subjected to athletic injuries, Doc gave her some pain medication and told me to buy some white rice w/ steak pieces ( this is a one time deal ) because we do not give Morgan table food, Doc said this would open her appetite, since she would not eat or drink water, IT WORKED !!! she grubbed down the food then drank water and she is slowly getting stronger, she now eats her own food and drinks water on her own ! I wanted to thank you for your concern, your the best !!

This doesn't sound like Parvo to me. I have a dog who contracted Parvo just before I rescued her about 7 years ago.

The symptoms of Parvo are usually loss of appetite, watery foul-smelling stools often containing blood, vomiting, sometimes becoming uncontrollable, extreme lethargy, rapid breathing, collapse. Of course that is in the full-blown stage.

Yet if she has not had her vaccinations, your dog is wide-open to contracting the Parvo virus, so I am not saying it definitely isn't that. Do take her to be checked at the vet.

Yet again, I don't think this necessarily sounds like Parvo. Are you sure it isn't simply a very upset tummy? Maybe she ate something which disagreed with her? Dogs can sometimes pick up undesirable things when out on walks, and you wouldn't necessarily know about it.

If she is not drinking, there is a definite risk of dehydration. If she worsens, I would not wait till tomorrow, but take her to ER. Otherwise, is there a way you could try to get fluids down her? Glucose dissolved in water is the best thing. Milk isn't too good for dogs generally, but in this instance if she drinks that it is some fluid. Honey, dissolved in water can often tempt a dog who won't drink. Or fish or chicken stock (no salt or low salt)

There is certainly something making her feel bad. Hopefully you will find out what. Take a urine sample with you when you go to the vet.
