feeding a dog with diarrhea

Scruffy developed diarrhea on Friday, Saturday I called the vet who said to give hiim boiled chicken and rice to solidify things.  Well, he doesn't seem to want to eat the rice.  He usually eats dried food mixed with a heaping tablespoon of canned so I thought he'd be all over the rice/chicken.  He doesn't even want to be bothered picking the chicken out.  Other than not eating and having the runs every hour to two he has been acting normal in all other areas (playful and begging for people food).  How can I make the chicken/rice more appealing to him without compromising his digestive system?  I will most likely try to get him to the vet tomorrow when they reopen.  Thank you.

I usually will take a teaspoon of soft/canned food and mash it up with water so it stretches further then mix it with the chicken & rice. I am dealing with a dog with the 3's too. Good luck and I hope Scruffy's tummy is better soon.

Thanks for the advice.  I called the vet again this morning and it turns out they weren't clear on their initial instructions.  I was supposed to let him go with only water for 24 hours before introducing a small amount of chicken/rice to give his stomach time to settle.  So, I am back to square one today.  They won't see him until at least Wednesday unless he becomes lethargic.  He is pretty peppy and normal except for the diarrhea.  Thanks again.

Are you boiling the rice with the chicken? Makes the rice better this way. I add alittle garlic and parsley (Fresh or dried) for flavor. Parsley is excellent for the digestive system....
