TOXIC FOODS

What humann foods are toxic for dogs?
I have a 12 yr. old yorkie.  My folks also
have yorkies. 8 yrs. & 10 yrs.

My girl very rarely gets people food!
My dad doesn't give theirs people for either.
But... my momma is QUILTY!
I told her grapes will cause kidney faliure, same for
raisens.  Chocolate will kill them.  Why?

Now, I heard onions & garlic are also toxic?  What will
they do?
So if you could let me know what foods are toxic & why
as well as the effect.

Grapes will definately cause kidney problems, I know of one GSD that ended up in the ER with kidney failure, she lived.  Onions can cause hemolytic anemia but I also know of someones gsd that loved onions.  I add cooked garlic to some of my homemade mixtures.  If one feeds people food as I do on occasion I just feed less kibble.  Keep in mind that fried foods are not good for us, so not good for our fur friends.  I think hot dogs are made with junk and don't eat them myself so my dogs don't get them either.  I have fed raw,kibble and a mixture.  When feeding raw, turkey necks abd backs are great for them.  Green beans and carrats are great treats but unless ground to a pulpy mess not good for food, their digestion is too quick to absorb the nutrients.  There are veggies that are in a group called "nightshades" (google that, I forget most) that are not good for dogs.

i know turkey makes them really sick/or it did my kizmoe and i know they say never give choc to them its like posion even though mine would fine it once in a blue moon and eat it . my kiz ate lots of human food, loved boiled chicken, hamburgers, they were not good for him and chicken nuggets was a plus for him, but in the end it hurt him to, try not to feed human food i will never feed it to another one if i get one. the vet did tell me that green beans and carrots are good for them as treats, and kiz loved them both. he loved hot dogs to but not good for them. better to stay with there food if you ever start human food hard to get them eat the right thing. good luck
