my lab will not eat?

my 6 year old lab will not eat his Iams dog food that he has been eating for years? He vomited Monday am but it was mostly dog hair and bile. He has not touched his food in  days. My parents were in town with their dog for a week so I thought maybe he was depressed? I gave him a rice cake last night (which he loves) and he gobbled it down. Today he tried to eat a little bit of food and about an hour later vomited? He is a very lazy dog so its hard to see a change? I am worried that he is not eating..I am not sure if he got into something while outside? He is drinking water..Should I take him to the vet or am I being over paranoid?

Thanks,

I agree with Ginger....He needs to see a Vet if this has gone on longer than 2 days.....

You also need to change his food......Iams is a very low quality food and 6 yrs. is way too long to be on it....

Also keep this in mind: It has been RECALLED just this week, AGAIN....Here is a post from a few days ago.......

Thank you for the heads up, again (I hate to say!).  This company needs to find something else to do.....They clearly aren't good at making pet food!  What a joke!   Karla

I find it quite shocking that there isn't a notice posted about this on the IAMS website!! (apparently not!)

Well it seems that the original warnings have disappeared......Interesting!

Here's how it works: Usually these company recalls are made on a Friday so that with the weekend, no one will see them.....Then their rears are covered, but with minimal exposure......In this case, a Holiday weekend makes even less exposure.... Therefore, the companies don't lose as much money!    Sad, but true!
Just another reminder that profit is more powerful then the well being of our pets......These are also the companies that I boycott! Along with any other product they sell!!!!! In this case, Procter & Gamble....

Oh yes, they also do animal testing and it's Harsh & Cruel!!!  Anyone can uncover this information & read for yourself......There is NO reason to support this company ever......There are far better choices......

I will be searching for "Where did the warning go?" just out of curiosity.....Karla

Get him to his Vet to have things checked out & then work on his food.....It's very possible that it's making him sick!   Good luck, Karla

Well, the way I look at it, it's quite normal for a dog to vomit once, or even twice in the same day, just to get rid of something that's bugging him.
But to be off food for days, and then, days later to vomit again, makes me think something is going on that needs a trip to the vet.
It may be something and nothing. But better to get him checked out.
