please help...my 8 year old pit bull won't poop or eat

I have an 8 year old pit bull, Harley, who about 5 days ago started acting funny. He hasn't eaten any dog food, but will eat a little bit of people food here and there, He's been drinking plenty of water. He hasn't pooped in 5 days, and he walks around with his head down. He hasn't barked at anyone that comes over like he always does. When I let him inside, he lays on the couch and pants hard, when he breathes out he shakes. And this morning I noticed his testicles were very swollen. My boyfriend tried to touch them to see if they were hard, and Harley nearly attacked him because it hurt. I don't have the $300 to take him to the vet, and I have no idea whats wrong with him. Can anyone help me?

That price is ridiculous!!! A Vet visit should be much less....Call around and ask others for their price....Call your SPCA or A Humane society & see if they know of any low income Vet....They will have that information for you OR have one that you could use.....Have you checked with other places or did you stop with just this one?

Ask around as you call & see if any of the Vets will do a payment plan....Do you have anything you could sell or pawn....Again, I think $250.00 is an alarming price, but prices vary depending on where you live....

I'm in Oklahoma & a typical Vet visit anywhere is around $50.....

Good luck and let us know.....

well, I called the vet, they said they need $250 just to see him. which is what I thought. and if I were rich, I would have some kind of reserve, but I am not rich. so thank you for responding, and telling me what I already know but can't afford to do. I just hope my Harley makes it.

It would be very difficult to say what may be wrong but he is obviously in pain and needs to see a Vet!  See if your Vet accepts Care Credit.  Call the Vet, explain the situation and see if you can work something  out.
When you have animals, you have to try to keep some kind of reserve fund in case you find yourself in a situation like this.  If you have a local ASPCA, see if they can advise you.
