Dog pee

I have a male Japanese Chin, he's a great dog.  The problem is, he pees in our house.  And it's gotten worse since I had a baby in September.  So, I know we need to do the kennel again, and I am dreading it, so I  was wondering if any one else had any suggestions?  We take him out 2 or 3 times a day, and he lets us know when he needs to go out, and we put up his food and water at night.  Also, I really need to get the pee smell out of my carpets.  I heard that vinegar worked, should I dilute or just pour on straight?   TIA

There's a product you can buy at pet stores called Nature's Miracle. It's supposed to work really well with removing pet odors from carpet & upholstery. Has he always done this or is this fairly new behavior? You might want to get him checked by your vet to make sure he doesn't have a UTI or something. Also, pets will pee when they're stressed or anxious. You having a new baby may be just enough stress for him to be acting out. Are you trying to give him as much attention as you did before? If you had the money you could always hire a pet behaviorist to come out and observe him and offer tips and other help.
Try the Nature's Miracle. If he's still smelling the pee, he will keep going back to certain areas that he's "marked". I hope it all works out for you. If it's in a large area or all over, you may need to hire a professional carpet cleaner to clean all the carpet with a pet enzyme and keep him in the kennel for awhile.
My friend has a beagle who was peeing in her house. It was upsetting to her because they had a new house and carpet. What she did was get one of those invisable fences and put under the house to block off a certain area of the house so that the dog could only be in the kitchen, laundry room area that had tile. I'm not saying I recommend this. It does seem a bit drastic, but I know she loved the dog, just couldn't take the pee anymore.
Anyway, that's a few ideas. Hope it helps. BTW, I love Japanese Chins! They're so cute and smart! I have a friend who has two. Hope things improve soon for you.
