She is doing great. She stayed over-night and was kind of quite for a couple of days. But she's back to normal. She never did even bother the incision. Thanks guys!!!
Yes I would like to know how it went as i'm getting my min pin mix done on Wed. +she is so lively and active, I dont know how i will keep her quiet afterwards? How did you manage?
Bev, how is everything? How did Lacy's surgery go? Please check in when you get the chance and update us. :)

i had my baby done at 6 months she came home te same day she did great no problems. the key is having a great dr to do it , if you trust your vet tham lay your worries aside, yes things can happen but most the time witha good dr they will be just fine. let us know how shes doing.
Because you had a bad experience before when your boxer was neutered, it has made you upset and nervous. That's understandable of course. But dogs are like people. No two are the same. And no two sets of circumstances are ever the same! It would be very strange indeed if the same problems occurred this time. It is a good idea to have this done. I wish I'd had my dog spayed when she was younger. Now she is getting older I hesitate to put her through that, but am always on watch for symptoms of pyometra, or breast cancer! And it's always at the back of my mind, even though she appears healthy and fit.
When your dog has been spayed you will not have to worry about those things. I am sure she'll be fine. Pre-op tests are usually done, and the vet wouldn't go ahead with the surgery if there were any signs to the contrary.
You could expect that she might be a bit wobbly, off her food, or sleepy for the first day afterwards, then I am sure she will bounce back really well, like they usually do!
Thanks for the info and your kind words. She's like one of my kids. When we had my boxer nutered he got a really bad infection and almost died, it scared me to death.
I will keep you posted, thanks again.

Hi Bev. You're making a VERY wise decision in having Lacy spayed. Now her chances of developing mammary cancer will be GREATLY reduced and her chances of developing pyometra, a life-threatening uterine infection, will be ZERO!
When she comes home, she'll probably be acting pretty much like her old self, since most dogs take the surgery pretty much in stride. Request that the doctor give her pain meds after the surgery, since while dogs are very good at hiding when something hurts them, she could still have some discomfort. Keep her fairly quiet for about four or five days afterward. It takes about four days for the skin to heal to the point where you don't have to worry about her tearing her incision from boisterous activity. Don't let her jump around, or jump on or off furniture for a few days. Other than that, her activities are pretty much business as usual.
Watch for any unusual swelling, oozing, bleeding or redness around the site of the incision. It's normal for there to be a BIT of puffiness , but actual swelling could be a sign of infection, so just be aware of what her incision looks like. Her attitude will tell you everything you need to know. You will know by her actions and her demeanor how she is feeling.
Just relax. Everything will be fine! Please post when it's all done and let us know how she is. As a matter of fact, if you are nervous while she's in surgery, come in and post and we'll keep you busy and keep your mind occupied until it's done. :)
