swollen stomach

My daughters white bull terrier has a very extended stomach, been to vet, had x ray cannot find anything. Blood test shows low white blood cells, protein in water. On anti biotics and today had a b2 injection,  this is supposed to give him an appetite, was told possible bile infection, goes back to vet on Tuesday. His appetite has not been good as he usually will eat anything, loves his food. He has lost weight but with not eating that is understandable, I called today and stroked his head and he feels 'cold', he is sleeping on the tiled kitchen floor and not in his bed. Jody has told me he is alot better than the other day, wow how ill has our Billy been, bless him.
Has anyone any advice for this dogs nanna, love him to bits, he is so loved and such a good dog.
Thank you Cyn

Thank you soooo much for contacting me but alas our Billie passed away at home 7.10am Monday morning. The vet told my daughter he was in liver failure, Jody asked him, right, everything up front 'am I going to get my dog back?' vet said oh dont give up on him yet, this was on the Sat. He was never left alone that nite, my daughter lying at his side, my grandchildren took it hard and on Tuesday nite they had a celebration of his life, bless them. Thank you once again.

Do you live in a rural area? Or do you think he could have been bitten by a Tick in the last few weeks or even a month or so?
Some Tick-borne diseases can cause these symptoms. However of course it might well not be that. But you could mention it to your daughter to ask the vet about it?

Welcome......Are their any other symptoms? Anything?
I assume he is running a fever, thus the antibiotics and sleeping on a tile floor.....
My first thought is a worm infestation.....This can cause a swollen stomach. Did they check a stool sample for worms?
What antibiotic did they give him? Is he better on them? Do you know if his red blood cell count was low, too?
What state does this dog live in?
I'm thinking here...Get back with anything else you may can think of.......Thanks, Karla
