Downs syndrome with thyroid nodule, causing sickness

Hi.
I have a brother who is 28 years old with Downs Syndrome. I was just wondering my brother has had sickness on and off for over 12 months, he has a nodule on his thyroid, My question is could the Thyroid nodule be causing his sickness. Also i would like to know if this is a common feature for Downs Syndrome, as we are getting a bit fed up with our GP keep shrugging his shoulders, and sweeping him under the carpet.
We are at our wits end and dont know were to turn for help.
If anyone could recommend a specialist who deals with adult Downs Syndrome, or any information on the matter, we would be grateful. We live in the UK.
