Chewing and spitting out food:

I have an eating disorder and i am aware of it - i am anorexic and bullemic, and i am going to get help next week because i want to recover.
But i have a question: if i feel that i am about to binge, i have started to chew and spit out (and thoroughly rinse out my mouth afterwards) the food which tempts me. My question is: What percentage of the calories and fat of the food will be absorbed? Does any get absorbed, and if so how and where?
Please don't tell me about the dangers of chewing and spitting (stomach ulcers...etc) as i am well aware, i just have searched everywhere and i cant find any reliable answers, therefore i thought it would be best to ask doctors.
Please reply, thank you

i wouldnt say no calories are absorbed --- i went through a phase like that..and smtimes i do that too. but i went through a period of an entire yr C/S everything --- healthy and unhealthy food.
they say sugar begins digestion at the mouth --- therefore calories are already absorbed then. Theres also the thing with oily food --- u might not be getting solids in your mouth --- but oils, salts, seasonings, sugars all binds up with saliva. Its a lot of unhealthy stuff being consumed. But if ure not eating anything else, it probably wont be enough to sustain you. I was c/s for an entire yr and didnt end up losing much.
The worse thing is that the more u C/S the more u'll feel hungrier --- it might not seem like it at first..but u will slowly realise that u're c/s more and more food.
your cheeks will start to have pain and end up with chipmunk like cheeks (a lil bloated). I was lucky to have stopped, because i was told, as serious cases go --- u'll get ulcers in ur stomach, because the stomach prepares itself to digest food with all the acid not knowing that u would spit the food out afterwards, it never gets a chance to digest the food.
stick to healthier options and food instead of C/S --- its a while lot better that way that putting junk food that are highly fattening and then getting oil, choc, sugar salt all stuck to ur saliva therefore --- gaining weight instead.

I personally don't know.  I guess it would be dependent, in part, on the caloric and fat content of the food.

Have you ever read the food label on a packet of sugar-free chewing gum?  That lists calories although I expect most people chew and then biff the gum.

The secretions produced by the salivary glands, etc would aid in the breakdown of the food.  Food particles, etc would then get absorbed through normal digestive processes.

I would strongly advise you to get medical and psychological support for the disorder/s.  I would do it today and not next week.
