Problems with weight--- Eating Disorder???

Hi
I am 16 years old, 88 pounds, and 5 feet 3inches. As you can probably tell from the previous information, I am underweight. I also haven't had my period in nearly 13 months. Last month I went to my doctor and she wanted me to gain at least five pounds to see if that would help start my period. However, I have actually lost almost two pounds since I saw my doctor because I have been running at least 4 miles a day for track. I don't want to gain weight! Especially during the middle track season. Gaining weight could be the worse thing I could do right now! What am I suppose to do?
My doctor said if I don't gain weight I will be put on birth control, but that kind of freaks me out. My friend went on birth control for her acne and she ended up gaining at least five pounds. I don't want to gain any weight!
On top of all this my mom thinks I might be starting an eating disorder because she thinks I am not eating enough, or because I am just eating fruits and vegetables for my meals. She thinks my caloric intake is too small for how much I am excercising. My mom used to have anorexia, so she thinks that I might have it as well. She thinks it is hereditary. I don't want to go through all of this!
I need help!!! i dont know what to do!!

well, as I hear from your story it might well be that you have an ED. But as I have experienced myself, you will not gain so much weight if you're eating better. I don't know if you ever read something about metabolism? That is the way your body processes food. And the fact is that it's working much faster if you eat more, wich means you could even loose weight by eating better. It's healthier, but still not good.
I think you should realize that, when you excercise this much, it's normal to eat good. Gaining weight when your underweight isn't bad, it's just healthier for your body. First you should realize that before you can get better.

I'm going through this myself too, so contact me if you need any support :)

Sometimes I do have body image problems, but doesn't every teenager have some sort of body image problem sometime in their life???
Personally, I don't think I have an eating disorder.
