Adhesion's

Hi

My name is Joanne and I am new to this so be patient with me!! Thanks....I suffer from adhesion's and have done for many many years. I have had them divided 3 times from my bowel and had a big bleed from them the 3rd time they were done the blood is now all caught up in my pelvic area along with adhesion's from previous surgery and endo,. I had 4 operations in the late 80's early 90's due to ovarian cysts blocked Fallopian tubes trying to get pregnant and eptopic pregnancies and have lost count of the amount of times I have had Laparoscopies .My problem now is they have come back to haunt me in a big way worse than ever before: Extreme pain down my left hand side around bowel area and my lower pelvic region. I am currently seeing a pain management team and had a facet nerve block about 3 weeks ago and this seems to have made things worse again rather than better. I take 60 mg of Targin daily along with many other pain killers. What do I do ............ My heart says go and see your surgeon again because the pain is getting to the stage where I am vomiting and keep feeling faint but I my head says don't as I am convinced that he thinks I am making this up........Should i still be in this amount of pain wen I am taking the amount of pain killers that I am taking? Any Ideas

Thanks

Jo

I find pain killers do nothing for me if I am in pain.

I have the same issues and now since I had an episode of PID last year it has made this even worse!!!

Are you sure its all adhesions and not endo?  when they did the surgeries did they remove all the endo?  Was the surgeon that did it a specialist in this field?

The best way to remove endo is through excision and most surgeons feel that it is a long process so they laser and that is when the scar tissue grows back even worse.

Hi ya

thanks for replying..........I am the same with pain killers although Targin is an opiate it worked for the first few weeks and now nothing. the only thing that has worked in the past has been Cyclomorph but that is when I am in hospital. Have never had Endo removed, when i first started with this I lived in the UK and Endo was never mentioned it has only been mentioned since I have been here in Ireland. PID is awful that's how my problems first started in about 1987 and I have got slowly worse. Its definitely adhesion's or so my surgeon says I must say he has been good up untill 17 months ago and he wont remove the adhesion's in the pelvic area and  it has slowly got worse since then. I am not sleeping and can hardly walk!...........So how do you cope

What I would do is find a specialist in Endo and have them do a lap to remove the adhesions and possible endo. Either way because of your pain they will have to do something. Better to get it done in my opinion.

The PID has destroyed my insides and I have had so many issues since then so I am pushing for a surgery to get rid of the scar tissue, endo and whatever damage it has caused.

Hi there, I had PID in 97 for terrible pelvic pain, when they went it some endo adhesions were removed I was in hospital for 7 days & has iv antibiotics that burn the heck out of my veins. My first daughter was 4. In 02 due to severe pain I had another lap which fibroids were found and adhesions were once again removed, I became pregnant 3 months later unexpectedly. Then in 07, once again I had my last lap I had a lot of scarring & endo was finally diagnosed via biopsy.  All scaring & adhesion were removed & I was put on Lupron for 6 months.  Although the treatment side effects were not pleasant I felt great! I became pregnant in Dec 08. Now nonce again since last year have full blown symptoms.  The Lupron has not worked & have a partial total lapaaroscopic hysterectomy scheduled for 10/5.  My only option, but my family is complete.  I thank God for that.  The pain killers have not helped at all, not even morphin & the pain is 24/7 since May 2011.  It's been pretty bad! the treatments for Endo will help if the adhesions are Endo related but NOT if they are scar tissues due to prior surgeries!  This you need to understand. You can have chronic pelvic pain, PID, pain due to endometrial lesions (endometriosis) that can be treated with Lupron, depro Provera & other birth control & others determined by your doctor or you can have scaring due to prior surgeries which the only way to get relief is by having a laparoscopic surgery & removing them. However, there is only so many surgeries one can have, and Lupron for example is not a long term treatment. Therefore, only you & your doctor xmcan decide what are the best choices for you.  In my case, we opted for the surgery. Alway ask for a second opinion as well if you are not comfortable with what your GYN tells you, I did, and i sm glad i did! Good luck!
