Can Endometriosis pain mimic Ovarian Cyst Pain?

I've been experiencing recurrent pain close to my right ovary for over 8 months now and my OB-GYN keeps telling me the cyst that's on my ovary is too small to be causing this much pain.  She is very hesitant to do a LAP and go in to take a look, so I feel like I'm wasting my money by seeing this doctor.  Has anyone else had experience with Endometriosis like this?  Should I find a new OB-GYN?  For reference, everything under the sun has been ruled out via Ultrasound, CT Scan, Colonoscopy, etc.

Hi there.  I was diagnosed a little over a year ago of having uterine fibroids and a cyst on the left ovary of an unknown etiology.  They believed that it was a cystoadenoma, a malign tumor since it was septated.  I didn't have any pain there, on the contrary I had a little pain on the right ovary.  I battled for a year on what do so I searched on the internet and talked to several doctors, until I finally found one that seemed more reasonable and willing to preserve my uterus and ovaries due to the fact that I don't have kids and still wish to do so.

Well, I finally got operated on December 27th and the GYN found that it was an endometrioma and was able to drain it, did washings and also, preserved my uterus and both ovaries.  So, find a doctor that you feel comfortable with and see what are your options.  I am glad I did since my original doctor believed it was cancer and wanted to removed everything making me go into an early menopause.

Best wishes,

Neta

I also have severe pain with my right ovary.  I have had cysts there but they did not hurt, only if they ruptured(OWW!!)  My pain in my right ovary is from endo so I would think that if the Dr. thinks the pain can't be from the cyst endo might be a possibility.  Also the cyst could be from the endo.  I think finding a Dr. who you are comfortable with is the first step, it never hurts to get a second opinion, and any doctor who is worth anything will encourage a second opinion, i know mine does!  Find a new doctor who you think really listens and go from there.  A lap might not be a bad idea!  Good luck!
