What to use to stop menstrual bleeding if not hormones?

I was wondering what doctors can use other than hormones to stop menstrual bleeding to control the endometriosis?

I don´t tolerate the Mirena IUD and now I started taking cerazette and I´ve started feeling nauseated and not feeling well (hope it is just for few days) just like when on Mirena. Are there any other choices?

Feeling concerned that nothing will work :S

Thank you and i really hope you'll find something that works for you too. I was very worried at first. No it's not. It's a specific treatment for endo that contains dienogest.

I was diagnosed with endo about 2 months ago, based only on my symptoms and the findings in my ct. I didn't have a lap, but my doctor put me on visanne and i am pain free from day one with no major side effects. Just some spotting

My doctor took all the endo he could find, not with laser he cut it away.

So now I,m taking the BCP continuously to stop periods. I will not tolerate 3 months of horrible nausea, so bad that I cant eat or sleep and get anxious like I had with Mirena but I hope I will tolerate the BCP better :)

Welcome to the Endometriosis Forum.

First I want to start by saying that nothing can control Endo. Even if you are on a hormone Endo will still continue to grow. The only reason you should take a hormone medication is to stop your periods and ovulation therefore stop the pain.

The only way to get optimal relief is through Excision surgery which means to cut out the disease from the root and not laser. Excision surgeons are hard to come by as there are only a handful of specialists like that worldwide, however there are some. If you keep any Endo behind it will continue to grow.

Best thing you can do to stop periods is to give it a 3 months try and if it is not working try another one. Everyone is different. Are you take the BCP continuously? that is important as well. I am on Marvelon and have been for 6 yrs and has worked amazing for me I am lucky. Not all women are and that is the challenge with the BCP and other HRT's.
