Maybe Causes

has any one ever wondered how and why each person got endometrosis? i wonder if we all have a certain thing in common. Is anyone else really into sports when they were younger and even now? i believe that maybe thats one of the reason's i have it. maybe my uterus wasnt strong enough and shed some of its lining. when i was younger and even now i did kickboxing, karate, soccer and was a tomboy climbing i wonder if this took its toll on my body. does any one have any other thoughts?

I asked my RE the last time I was there if my having endo increased Julie's chances of having it and he said that it did, but it didn't mean that she was destined to have it.  I explained that at 14 she's already pretty much eating Midol when she has her period.  He told me that the normal thing to do for a young teenager with those symptoms would be to treat with bc and some kind of NSAID, like ibuprofen and if that doesn't control her pain she'd probably need a lap to find out for sure if it is endo.  I don't like the thought of putting my 14 year old on birth control, but I do understand completely what she's going through with the pain.  To the best of my knowledge no other women in my family have endo...my Mom is one of 5 girls.  She's also the only one who hasn't already had a hysterectomy.  My Granny died with all of her "Mommy Parts", and with ovarian cancer...so who knows.  I know nothing about the medical history of my natural fathers family as I have had no contact with any of them since he died, almost 32 years ago.  I wish that a cure or vaccine or some miracle treatment would be found, maybe then we could at least have hope that our granddaughters wouldn't suffer as we have had to.  My husband isn't a religious person, but he likes to jokingly remind me that it was Eve that started the whole thing with the apple and she was told that she would be punished with painful childbirth, or something like that....I always respond that I wasn't even there when that d*** apple was picked!  It's a running joke in our house, kind of his way of lightening the mood when I'm having a really bad day with the pain.  He doesn't take my problem lightly and tells me all of the time that he can't stand to see me in pain and wishes that there were something he could do to take it away.  Let's all strive for a cure...they've done wonders with breast cancer research, why not endo?

I got it geneticaly from my father, my 2 Aunts got it and they had diffrent mothers but the same father my grandpa, new resurch is sugesting that women with it in thier familys have a 6times higher chance of getting it. I was diagnosed at 11years old, I started my period at 10. no one knows an exact reason why woan get it but we do, and the worst part is is that there is no way of knowing if we will pass it on to our girls or way of cureing it. Hopefully one day this wont plague woman and untill then Bless the strength of thouse of us who have this.

i only got mine at 14 as well all my friends had theres before mine. it be great even if we knew why we got it. i think the sports contributed though. they even say doing proper situps can damage your uterus.

I guess I'm the oddball...I didn't play sports, I was a girly girl and wan't the least bit interested in them.  I wish I had an answer to that question as well, maybe we could protect our daughters from it if we knew what caused it and why we were chosen to be blessed with endo...now I'm laughing at myself :)

I would think sports if anything would help keep your body healthier. I also think playing sports delayed mine and my other "sports playing friends" periods. I didn't get it until almost 16 yrs old. But it has always been long and heavy. I think ther are may reasons it happens as well. Possibly the estrogens in the environment as well, or the backing up of blood. Who knows I guess, hopefully soon they will figure this disease out!

i played tons of sports mostly fastball and basketball.  I would dive all over the place so who knows. I was a major tom boy. I got my period average age 13.

It could be from anything, there are more estrogens in the environment, could be from pesticides etc
