Endometriosis?

For the past 11 years I have been dealing with lower left flank pain when I would menstruate. 7 years they performed laparoscopy-did not find any signs of endometriosi but removed my left ovary. This did not give me any relief. I learned to deal with this pain and just recently the pain progressed. I went back to my GYN doctor because now the pain intensifies when my bladder is full, have to have a bowel movement and pain during intercourse. I also have pain in my lower back. He thought it would be a good idea to go back in. However, when I met with a GYN surgeon, she did not think it was anything related to endometriosis and thinks it is something to do within the wall of my muscle in that area because now I am experiencing back pain. All my symptoms lead to endometriosis, who is to say that you can't have back pain with this? I am extremely frustrated at this point. I have been seeing GYN for the last 11 years, they sent me to Pain Med and Rehab and now they are sending me to a specialist in GI. My bills are racking up and I have no answers.

I forgot to mention the Mayo clinic has patient assistance for any bill above $1000.

I have had extreme back pain with my endo and so has my sister. Is ob/gyn surgeon an endo specialist, if not she more than likely missed endo 7 years ago the only way to truly tell someone there is no endo is to perform biopsies of the pelvic tissue.

I am sorry you are in so much pain? Have you tried the Mayo clinic? If not just walk in-- everyone does it. Go their for pain and then once you are admitted it will be a lot easier to see the doctor you need to see.

I hope this helps,

I have had 2 CT scans, x-rays and an ultrasound done. Nothing was found. I heard that it can take up to 10 years to diagnose. Is it true that the only true way to tell if you have endometriosis is if they actually go in and look?
