Horrible brown foul smelling watery discharge!!

Hi! I'm a 27 year old mother of 4. I just had my baby boy on the 20th of last month. So I am 2 weeks postpartum. Anyways, I have such an awkward very embarrassing situation that I would like to share you all in hopes that I will get some kind of answer or relief. Maybe some of you might be experiencing the same symptoms as me or maybe you might have an idea what could be wrong. Well it started off a couple of days ago I about to go grocery shopping & when I stood up out the car something was leaking out of my vagina. I thought well maybe it's just blood clots because I am still in postpart recovery & that was normal.. But it kept coming out & I looked down it was soaking through my jeans in the front.. I touched it & on my fingers it was light pale brown & this thing had the worst odor ever.. It smelled real bad like bad roton meat or almost likes poop.. Ugh, sorry (tmi) but that's how bad it was. So I tell my husband to take me back home & I go to the bathroom to change & check this nasty thing out. It was gross!! I wanted to cry & my husband thought I was popping but I wasn't he could smell it in the livingroom!! So I go in the shower & stayed in there for a while cleaning off with the shower hose. When I get out I out on big pads like four of them & go lay down.. Still it was coming out... So I told my husband to take me to the ER. I tell them them my situation & then they did a complete blood count, urinalysis & blood culture.. I waited there pretty long... When the doctor came to see me he did a pelvic exam & a wet mount. Everything came back normal accept that I'm anemic & my white blood platelet was a little bit high so I do have an infection. Other than that the pelvic exam was fine too but the doc diagnosed me with endomitritis & sent me home with keflex & flagyl oral... So I've been on both antibiotics. So it's been a couple of days & I still have the nasty watery brown discharge but it only comes out when I get up in the morning & after I get up from sitting down.. It's still smelly & the color has gotten lighter to a more pale brown. At first it was really dark brown. I'm wearing pads everyday & just taking my antibiotics hoping this thing will go away.. I'm just overwhelmed from all this & having bad anxieties.. I don't want to have anything wrong with me like this. It's just terrible to go through & disgusting.. I hope someone on here can lift me up a little & give me some answers or advice. Someone on here has to be going through the something or maybe you might know of someone who has. Please talk to me! I'm tired of this & I feel so hopeless & confused. I just wanna know what do I have.

Okay I think it might be possible that you might have mistaken the diagnoses with "Endometritis"  let me know if this makes any sense. If it's this below the antibiotic will most likely have started to work by the time you get back to me.

"This is not endometriosis - as she said, she was diagnosed with endomeTRITIS - that's an infection involving the lining of the womb and would explain the malodorous discharge (although is not the only source of abnormal discharge). She should continue with the antibiotics and if her symptoms don't improve she should go back. It's an infection and will pass and she'll be fine."

Sorry one more

Endometritis (infection of the Endometrium) is common after giving birth. The antibiotics are both very strong so they should hopefully run their course very quickly. If there is any increased symptoms or fever, contact your Dr right away. The brownish discharge may also be blood that was not fully expelled during labor. It is important to rest as much as possible and increase your fluid intake. Feel better soon...and congratulations on the birth of your son!!!! :)

4) If it smells like poop then my first thought is a fistula.

Fistula sounds like its a possibility as most people are mentioning that.

These are some responses I received

1) Sounds like she may have endo, how awful going through what she just experienced. Hope she gets answers soon.

2) Sounds like an infection. Would follow up with the gyno

3) Definitely sounds like an infection. I've had foul smelling funky coloured discharge when I had a haematoma and raging infection...

Could it also possibly be a fistula from childbirth?

Welcome to the Endometriosis Forum. I am wondering something after reading your post. Do you have Endo or is that what the ER said you had? did they do an ultrasound? Was there fluid in the pelvic cavity or did they just suspect that is what it was?

The smell and colour sound like old blood with a mix of an infection but I am not a doctor. I would continue with the antibiotic as well until its completely done.

did they check to see if you had a rectal or vaginal prolapse?

I am going to post parts of your question in this forum that I go to if I don't have the answer to see what they have to say if that is okay. They are very helpful and there are thousands of women on there so they might be able to help :)
