Hysterectomy "Final Decision"

Hi Ladies,
So I went to see a gyno/surgeon that deals with endo on a regular basis and he says that the best thing for me at this point is a total hyst. Soooo I am scheduled for "I hope my last surgery" on May 12th. Can someone recommend a good replacement hormone therapy? I am scared to be thrown into full blown menopause but am tired of being tired of dealing with the pain. At 44 I guess it wouldn't be to much longer before it was natural anyway so wish me luck. Best Wishes to everyone...

i haveno recommendiation for you....but I think I am in the same position as you.....I had laparoscopy 2 times, my last was 9 months ago....and my pain came back 5 months after second surgery.....I am already tired to have another laparoscopy....I am 41 and trying to conceive, but nothing happend.....i did not use birth control, which probably would help slow down growth after surgery, but........this month I will try birth control I will see how I feel, but if my pain will continue I will have to have hysterectomy.....it scares me...............i have no children................i got diagnosed with endo only year and half ago................my surgery was in stage 3....now I am maybe 4.....

Hello.  I don't know much about hormone replacement therapy.  Just wanted to drop a quick note to say "good luck".  In about a month I'll find out if I'll be having a partial hyst - remove just my ovaries.  It's a huge decision and I 100% understand your concearn.  I wish you the best of luck.  On the bright side - NO MORE PAIN FROM ENDOMETRIOSIS!!!!!!!  I don't know about you, my entire life has been upside down because of this desease.  I'm very career driven, but call in about 2x a month.  My sex life... what sex life????  It's too painful.  I had a lap... they removed all the endo.  In less then 3 weeks it was back with a 7 cm endometrial cyst... I just can't deal anymore.  So, whatever it takes to return to a normal life, however drastic it is, I will do it.
Again, best of luck.  The recovery process will be a lenghty one, so just left everyone pamper and take care of you.  Let us know how everything works out.
Thanks, Lilia

I'm sooo very sorry to hear that. Make sure to let your doc know that you want children maybe they can help. It may be a good idea to see a fertility doctor as well. At least ask to find out what your options are. Good Luck keep us posted. I will pray for you  :)

Yes hysterectomy that is a major decision and we cannot make it lightly BUT dealing with endo and the pain that comes with it I have to agree with you. I also said do what we have to so that I can get on with my life. The pain is unbearable at times and people do not understand unless they have what we do. I have a high tollerance to pain but sometimes stay in bed unable to move due to the severity of it. For me that's crazy to go on suffering and not being able to much of anything so I opted for a complete hysterectomy. I was planning on keeping one ovary but where's the sense in that if I have to go back in a few months to have it surgically removed as well? I wish you all the best. I understand all of your feelings. ;) Let me know how things go for you...

I wanted to let you know that keeping one ovary wont help either.I found that out the hard way.I have had several laps and partial hyst.everything including cervix (pre-cancer cells) but one ovary and tube.2 months later I was in so much pain thought it was GI did all those tests and nothing.OBGYN thought he was doing me a favor by leaving it in cause of hormone replacement and that kind of thing. Now I am having surgery on 9 June with a fertility and endo specialist out of state.I had to help my self as the drs here kept giving me hormones to help and nothing does help. All the hyst did was stop my bleeding every 2 weeks but the pain si sometimes so bad that I cannot move for a few seconds to minutes or even hours.I will be pushing a cart in the parking lot and boom there is that stab. You can do nothing but wait for it to pass while holding onto 2 small boys.NOT FUN AT ALL.
I wish you all the best in May.

That would be HARD with two little ones but thank GOD you had your children before needing a hysterectomy. My kids are grown and I feel very blessed to have them. Sorry that you are having such a hard time. I hope that they can find something that will work for you. I am not looking forward to figuring out what works for me. I have heard so many horror stories so I am very nervous about the whole thing but my quality of life right now really ***** and I am tired of dealing with the pain. I rarely take anything for pain I try my best to suck it up and deal with it. It is getting harder though and that is why I decided to go ahead with the hysterectomy. Good Luck to you.

Hey, my name is Jennifer and Im an Australian from Sydney and I have just read your convo with protea.I have had endo for about 20 years and have just started to look at a few diiferent ways to cope. I have had a number of sugeries including a diagphram transplant, lung surgery, bowel large removalect ect. It has come to my attention that every women with endo should be seeing an endocronoligst, test your copper and zinc levels High copper and low zinc make for ideal conditions for endo to grow!!! I have started taking a Zinc supplement as well as iron and have found substantial relief. Please dont give up on feeling better there are things you can do. I am also taking a micronised progesterone which has helped to regulate my cycle and lift my energy and spirit(nice way to say mood)
Hubby has also commented on the difference.
Please if you find this helpful pass it on- the surgeons wont!!!!!!!!!
