Going for surgery

Hi,

I am an unmarried and 30 years old living in India. I was diagnosed with endometriosis 6 years back. I tried homeopathy which helped me with pain but now the clot/cyst has grown big and is against my urinary bladder. I have been suggested to undergo surgery and I will be opting for laparoscopy in a few weeks time.

I had a few questions and fears:
1.  I will be going to the gyno in a week to discuss the surgery and post surgery treatment. What are the questions I should get answers to.
2. I am scared of side effects and gaining weight with the post surgical treatment. I read about all the options http://endometriosis.org/treatments/
Is there any option which you tried and is more safer.

This is all I could think of for now. Any information would give me more confidence to go ahead.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I am back home after the surgery and am recovering. I will start my harmonal injections this weekend.

Thanks again for your response. Feels like I am not alone battling the issue.

I am sorry you are going through so much, endo stinks (to put it mildly). Since you are in India you might want to look at see if turmeric (curcumin) is being used to help treat endo (I cannot have birth control and so one I do use is turmeric since it is a great ant-inflammatory.) Also you might want to look at a gluten (wheat, barley, rye) free diet as at least 80% of women with endo also have a gluten intolerance. I also use bromelain as this is suppose to help prevent adhesions. I was able to go four years in between surgeries. I have my second one coming up. After surgery you can bet that I am going to start right back on the bromelain and turmeric. (I started taking them about 1 yr ago and it did help with the pain for awhile. So I am hoping that with taking it already coupled with surgery that it will be all I need.)

I hope this helps,
