What happens to the stomach muscles after laparocopy, hysteroscopy, etc. and do I really need this just for 2 litle spots of endometriosis?

I haven't had my laparoscopy, hysteroscopy or my DNC yet and am scheduled in two days. A biopsy was done and no cancer, I have had endometriosis for a few years now and recently 2 oblations in the last two years. I am very happy with my menstrual results and the last three months though had been painful during the times I should be menustrating, but very little if any blood after the oblations. So after smelling and noticing an odor during urination I had notified my doctor, they took a lab and found nothing, 3 months later here we are and just a week later after my doctor wanted my to get the surgeries listed above during my pre-op they found out that I had a UTI w/a very high amount of ecoli in my system. Never having severe cramping before the UTI during monthly cycles I feel that the UTI was the cause for most of my pain...I do not wish to go through with the above mentioned surgeries. I feel that it was the UTI all along causing the pain...I don't think my doctor is listening to me and my concerns although I have never doubted him before. I am afraid of losing my doctor if I cancel the surgery, but more worried and afraid of the procedures in them selves. And what about this bloating in the stomach region, the stomach muscles...do they return to normal completely after the surgery?  Please help and if a doctor is listening would you please give me some good advice. I have not had a second opinion yet, but the doctor only says we should do the surgery.

Scared and Intuition telling me not to go through with it in Indiana

I went through a hysteroscopy 4 months ago and I KNOW the consultant has done something in my abdomen but all tests , X-rays, ultrasounds scans, blood tests etc have come back negative. I was experiencing severe 'pulling ' feeling in my stomach and although I was in hospital and all these tests were negative, they sent me home on liquid morphine for the pain. I eventually had to call my own GP and she thought I had a torn muscle. I have had numerous spells in bed as the feeling isn't there when I lie down and I've used ice packs and then heat treatment and although the feel g isn't quite as bad, it is still there and the past 3 days has intensified. I am still able to walk although I am getting really frustrated at the feeling not going away.  I am booked in for another ultrasound scan in 2 weeks and am going to ask for it to be done in a standing position as nothing shows up when I'm horizontal.  Can anybody PLEASE throw some light on my predicament as I have already had to cancel one holiday no am booked again for a trip to Canada in August and this situation doesn't seem to be improving?

Umm my stomach was fine after my surgery, it was having a kid that made my abdominal muscles stretch out so they didnt have the tone.

They give you like 2 small incisions, so tiny and they heal and within months you cant see them at all.

If anyone has more then one surgery, the most 2 they have an inexperienced doctor doing the surgery.  It is very very hard to find a doctor who specializes in endo. Mine is known all over Canada and the US because he is very knowledgeable.  If these people are getting hysterectomy's it could be because the doctor is again not educated and thinks that if you have a hyster done then the endo will go away but it does not!!..

The only time it should be done is if there is a high change of cancer or there is cancer.

For your situation I would wait a while to see if the symptoms go away because I really don't think that this surgery is for you judging by your symptoms at the present moment, I am almost shocked that the doctor is going to do all that because of your symptoms.  Some doctors just operate to operate. Every time you are cut open, later in life you can experience the aftermath of that, it could be scar tissue, other damage inside etc.

I would leave it for now and if in 6 months you are still in pain try taking the pill continuously to see if it relieves the pain.

Thanks! But, from what I can tell here and after extensive research there are usually more problems accompanied after such surgery and sometimes having to do 2-3 more then resulting in having a hysterectomy. The secretary nurse at my Doctors office had 3 then after having her hysterectomy another one. She now claims that all her pap test are not normal...I cancelled it. Honestly I do modeling and I am a calendar girl for a local radio station. I can not afford to have my abdomen blown to a 4 month pregnant womans size only to pray that my abs return to their normal position (In Shape)! I have heard that women get the "pooch" after having such surgery...I am 44 and have a body of a 25 year old. My last child was born 16 years ago and I have worked hard to stay in shape... What do you know about the abdominal muscles ?

You should be okay they are all simple procedures and your recovery time would be 2-4 weeks.  The first two weeks after any surgery are hard because the pain from the gas that hurts your shoulder, other then that you should be fine.

If you do not feel comfortable with the surgery ask her to postpone it.  Tell her you have the flu, they cant do surgery if you are sick.

If you read my profile I was tugged and pulled at from every direction.  I had severe adhesions from a bowel surgery I had when I was 7 and deep pelvic floor endo, a rectovaginal nodule etc.

I was covered everywhere.  I am not going to lie, I was in pain for a bit after but I think its because of the extensive work they did. My surgery was almost 5yrs long.

Whats wrong with doing it in Indiana, especially if you like your doctor?

I find that doctors in the US do a surgery if someone asks for one, rather then if you need one.

My doctor knew he had to go in because of the recto-vaginal nodule and even now I know I have more adhesions and I have pain again (not as bad as before) but he will NOT operate.

It really depends.  The more surgeries you have the worse off you will be in the end.  Every time they go in more scar tissue forms.

Please see below the reasons of why this doctor wants to perform the surgery

Why is a D&C done?

In general, a D&C is used to help determine the health of the uterine lining or to remove abnormal tissue. Occasionally, the procedure can correct some of the problems in the uterus such as polyps, scar tissue, or tissue overgrowth.

Why is a hysterocopy done?

Hysteroscopy is a way to look inside the uterus. A hysteroscope - a thin, telescope-like instrument that is inserted into the uterus through the vagina and cervix - may help your doctor diagnose or treat a uterine problem. Hysteroscopy is minor surgery that may be done in your doctor's office or operating room with local, regional, or general anesthesia. In some cases, little or no anesthesia is needed. The procedure poses little risk for most women.

your doctor is doing the lap to get that all done at one time. Its a very simple procedure.

If you feel as though the UTI caused the pain then cancel your appointment, get a second opinion and wait to see if the pain returns.  If the pain is still present at this moment even after being treated for the UTI then maybe it wasnt the UTI.
