Worried and in pain, what should I do?

A month ago I saw a nurse practitioner at my gyno's office because I have been having severe pain in my pelvic and uterus region. The closer to my period the worse the pain, an the pain sticks around for three weeks a month. I got an ultrasound to check for cysts as that's what the nurse prac. thought it was. It wasn't so I went and saw my actual gyno and she prescribed 800mg ibuprofen and a new 3 month birth control and mentioned it could possibly be endometriosis. I've only been on this new birthcontrol for a month but the pain isn't going away. Heating pads and the ibuprofen isn't working. Any suggestions on how to handle this pain?

How long have you been having this pain? Is it just a short onset? If it came out of nowhere, maybe you should get checked for something more acute like an infection. If it's something you've always had around your period, then endo is a possibility.

Hello
You sound like me in 2006. I had terrible painful bloody periods. Doctor did laparoscopy and found endometriosis. After that it got better a bit, but painful periods cane back. I tried birt contract pills, progesterone. It didn't work. In 2008 I removed my uterus, it was bulky, enlarged and basically sick. After that I was pain free till last year. I just had laparoscopy; lost left ovary and fallopian tube. I'm 36 years old. Hopefully It will get better.
I wish you best luck. Find a good gynecologist thats specialize in endometriosis.

The pain will not go away unless it is Endometriosis and is properly removed by excision (cut out).

I would suggest getting an appointment with an Endo specialist. I can help you in that way if you are interested. I just need to know where you are to find the best in your area.

Birth control did not work on me before my surgery. I bled the entire time and the pain was still there. However after surgery with a specialist I was on the BCP continuously with no pain for 8yrs. Excision surgery is the gold standard of treatment if it is endometriosis.

You are doing everything right but if the disease is not treated then pain will still occur. Try epsom salt baths when in pain, heating pads and aleve if you can. If your doctor will not give you anything stronger you might just have to deal with the pain unless you go to the ER. They do not properly treat women with Endo because there is lack of awareness on how painful this disease is.
