concerned its Endo?

Hi guys I have a few possible signs of endometriosis Im not to familiar with this condition all i know is that 3 of my aunt's suffered with it. I have suffered with ibs since the age of 16 which tends to flare up more when im on my period not sure if these two are linked or not but thought id add that also. I have recently had a transvaginal scan due to reocurring vaginal infections and increased amount of mucus down below the scan come back rather normal i guess it stated The uterus is slightly bulky and anteverted in position.Multiple small cervical nabothian cysts are noted endometrial thickness is 10.0mm and apart from this the other things stated where in normal range. For the fast 6 months i have been passing thick skin like substance in my period and have alot pain before passing them my period is quiet heavy and i have been spotting also between periods. Im seen my gyno in a month or so just scared and hoping someone may may if it is endo or not any information or help would be much appreciated Im extremely anxious and scare :(

Welcome to the Endometriosis Forum.

I can do my best to try to give you some answers.

From what you have said I can pull out answers to some.

1) If you have endo directly in your family like you have said you have 10x more the chance of having it.

2) A bulky uterus can sometimes mean Fibroids or Adenomyosis which can go hand in hand with Endo.

3) The skin like things you are passing are blood clots and do go along with Endo and Adeno. So its possible you could have one or the other or both.

4) IBS is usually the first thing diagnosed with women that have Endo. (Me personally I was diagnosed with IBS at 14 and Endo at 27 after 2 colonoscopies and I also had rectovaginal endo)

In my opinion I would go see an Endo specialist. The reason I say this is that you don't want to be passed off from Doctor to doctor getting frustrated with more tests and no answers. An Endo specialist knows what to look for and are skilled in treating this disease. You do not want a regular OBGYN do any surgery on you if needed.

I have journals in my profile if you are interested in reading them. I have been on this Endometriosis journey now for over 26 years and I am a patient/advocate for 5. I am always here if you need anything and please don't be scared.. Be informed and educated before you do anything. Being your own advocate with this disease is vital
