I would advise you to see a top Endo specialist and not some regular gyno or obgyn let me know where you and I can try to help you find one
I have tried birth control in the past and I get bad side effects with them so I dont want to take them. Yes I am just like you, got my period at age 11 and every month I have a debilitating menstrual cycle where I have to be on high doses of NSAIDS. Previously the pelvic pain would start couple days before my menstrual and last 2 days into it. Now, my pelvic pain comes and goes throughout the month and I am constantly bloated. I cant believe that the only way to diagnose is through surgery! But I guess if this continues thats the only option I have left. Thanks for your input!
My iron is good. Have had countless blood tests and everything comes out fine. Yes I do want children, I am actually getting married in the spring which is why Id really like to figure out whats going on ASAP. Im just skeptical about surgery. A month ago I was diagnosed with a mild case of IC but for some reason I dont believe that the pain I am feeling is caused by that since my pelvic pain is now constant where it used to come and go.
Have you tried birth control yet? My friend has endo and PCOS and takes birth control packets continuously until her body demands a period to prevent either from getting worse/prevent herself from having to endure great amounts of pain monthly.
I had very heavy, debilitating periods from the time I started (age 13) through the time I started birth control (age 20 or 21). It was to the point I'd have to skip out on 2-3 days of school due to extreme cramping, nausea, clots, heavy bleeding, lower back pain, etc. My periods were 7 days long. I got on birth control, and my periods went down to 2-3 days with light to moderate flow fairly soon after. I certainly did not have endometriosis nor was it ever suggested I did. I had an ovarian cyst In Sept. '09, at which point no endo was found either, so I know for a fact mine were just naturally heavy and painful. My mother's were too.
You're going to have to decide for yourself whether to have the procedure. Endo's one of those tricky things to diagnose without it sometimes. I'd find out if they can do the exploratory surgery laproscopically and scrape that way or if they have to do a bigger incision, find out the pros and cons of having it, etc., etc.
How is your iron? Have you tried iron supplements if you are deficient? Do you want to have a baby at some point?
If you do have a procedure, you should try for the least invasive procedure possible. In other words, don't have a hysterectomy. But many of the procedures that can improve periods can cause infertility, so ask lots of questions.
