Could I have mono?

Dear Dr.

I am 24 years old and have been married for 6 months. My husband and I of course kiss and sometimes share drinks. It started on Friday and I am still sick. I went to the hopsital yesterday in fact. I have severe stomach pain on the left side, low grade fever, mild sore throat, coughing, extreme nausea and I have never felt so tired in my whole life. They did a bunch of blood work including a mono spot test and everything came back negative. They also did a CT scan and everything came back negative. The doctor said that my symptoms did sound like mono and that it might be to early to be detected in my blood. I am going back to the doctor on Thursday but just wanted to know if it sounds like I have mono?

I am really scared because I have never felt like this before!

Thank You!

IMO.. you should ask your physician to do EBV testing on you and not just the monospot. Where do you live ? I'm asking because there may be other infections, such as valley fever, that is common in the southwest.

Anyhow, there aren't any MedHelp physicians in this forum, but I believe one frequently answers questions in the undiagnosed forum... here's the link:

Good luck and keep us posted if you can !
