EBV & WBC

Hi Everyone,

I'm curious to know if anyone else has had the same experience.

I have been running a fever with painless, swollen lymph nodes, night sweats, etc. since mid-April and after several inconclusive blood tests, they finally found out that I'm positive for a recent EBV infection. What I think is strange is that my WBC never went above the normal limits throughout the duration of the infection, and I know infections usually cause a spike in one's WBC.

Has anyone else had a positive EBV test (showing a current/recent infection) but normal WBC? Also, has anyone ever had a false-positive EBV titer (not a monospot)?

Thank you!

I had to ask ... hope you're still checking this....

Your vomiting, was it like waves of nausea?  I have been having that lately.  I have antibodies for EBV and a chronic thyroid condition and for the last week and a half, I have nausea all the time.  Its kind of like motion sickness when I stand or get in and out of my car.

Thanks for any information you can give.

If it helps you to know, I had normal WBC's for last 1.5 years, despite my EBV numbers continuting to rise. The last EBV test from last week shows WBC's high for the first time.
I am glad to see PlateletGal say her's have gone up and down. I'm not nearly as scared now.

I never ran a fever, but had night sweats and had hepatitis from EBV and the doctor kept telling me nothing was wrong with me because all of my blood tests were normal. It wasn't until they were trying to figure out why I had hepatitis that a liver expert ran an EBV test. So, I think it is possible to have normal blood tests with this. They kept telling me nothing was wrong with me. All of the vomiting and crazy symptoms were from "anxiety". So, I think it is possible that yours was normal even with a recent EBV infection. That's exactly what I had.

Yes... but I've also had times where my WBC was elevated.
