Are miles and calories burned on a Fitbit really count as exercise

I wear my Fitbit at work for 12 hours. I have a desk job and I sit most of the day however I do get to walk around, I go on walks on my breaks, up and down stairs etc. When I get home my Fitbit reads between 2-4 miles walked,  1200-1900 calories burned it just depends on the day. What I want to know do these readings really count as walking exercise

Ok so if you wear your Fitbit and walk 5 miles in 1 hour and 30 min don't believe  the Fitbit on the calories it said you burned

Fitbit is just a way to develop OCD.  You can tell if you're getting where you want to be by looking at your body, weighing yourself, and exercising -- nobody had ever needed something on their wrist to tell them these things.  It's just a way to sell you something.  This isn't a contest -- you don't win anything if you walk a certain number of steps a day.  You win if you feel good, you're healthy, and you're not obese.
