Pain in back of leg

I have been experiencing pain that will not go away in the back of my leg/knee area, right where the knee bends.  The pain gets worse when I run or do any other high impact exercise.  I have tried resting it for a few weeks, and it does lessen somewhat, but as soon as I start exercising again, the pain is back.  If I do an intense workout, I can't even straighten my leg the next day.

I am not able to exercise to my full potential anymore and am getting frustrated.  Any idea what this could be?

I was playing basketball and my right foot was planted as I began to spin to my left.  I felt a little pop in the inside/left side of the back part of my knee. I immediately began to feel a little pain and stiffness.  Currently, I have to limp and be very tendor as I walk as the back side of my knee feels very sore and it feels week.

This happened yesterday and I have iced it repeatedly with my knee semi elevated.  Also, I have been taking Ibreprofin.

What is the possible injury and who should I go to see and should I be doing any other type of care?

Thank you for your help.  Eddie

I have had this problem before.  Rest your leg as much as possible and use ice on it 15 min on and then off 15 min and repeat a few times at least daily.  And rest for 5-6 weeks easily. Never rush back into your workouts, but slightly walking will help when the 5-6 weeks are up.

well
i think you hav sprained or stretched your muscles
thats why the pain is happening
if you continue the exercise of running everyday then your pain will gradually decrease as your muscles will then get accustomed
thanks

If there is swelling, redness, or warmth present in the area mentioned, you should be evaluated by your physician.

You probably have a muscle strain.  Muscle strains take 6 weeks to heal completely.  My suggestion that you do no running for at least 5 weeks, and then start with very light running/walking.  Everytime you run on it too soon you hurt it again.

If you need to feel like doing something then maybe cycling or walking would help.
