Unable to lift leg withou discomfort

Any ideas on the following would be greatly appreciated:- I am a active runner & had a few days off due to general illness. I woke up one morning with severe discomfort in my upper thigh around the side & front of the hip. When not moved for a considerable time I physically have to lift it with my arms to get it moving. I did have a few days of no pain which came back to haunt me after a run (Very gentle compared to my usual routine) Have seen doctor who cannot see anything severe  but am not convinced by the diagnosis of rest it and see

Hi,

This may be locking which appears after meniscus injury in the joint. You must take another opinion on this, most probably from an orthopedician who would request an MRI to find out the exact cause of this.

Till you get the diagnosis, do only gentle exercise and take pain killers and warm compresses for your condition.

Hope this helped. Let us know if you need answers to other queries.

Regards.

Hi,how are you doing now? Did your doc exam your lower back? as a lot of upper thigh is due to lower back soft tissue injury, that inflammation lead to conduct pain.
Take care!

Hi,

Is there any redness and swelling?
Sciatica and profound leg fatigue can also cause these symptoms. It could also be a symphysis pubis dysfunction. In this condition there is excessive movement of symphysis pubis (pelvic bone) associated with pain.
I would suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon about it.

I had this problem for a year and a half and i kind of learned to live with it. I still did every sport i used to so that may be why it never healed.

But one day, while playing hockey, my right leg went too far back (while pushing, skating motion) and something snapped. The pain was very intense but i would disappear when the area was relaxed. This was very frustrating as i had sever pain anytime that muscle would contract. I could walk in a very awkward and extremely slow way but the muscle would often contract randomly which was so painful.

I don't remember how long it took, but it eventually healed properly and got rid of the problem i had for 1 and a half year.

4 years later, the problem is back. Is the only way to get rid of it to hurt myself seriously again? That can't be right. I'm clueless.
