Muscle or Nerve pull ????

Hi,

I am hoping to explain my pain in the best possible manner. I am a professional cricketer and every week I used to play matches and will have frequent practice sessions. On such days, while resting my muscle/nerves in the leg & calf muscles are getting twisted/shrunk, the pain will be enormous. This experience will last for about 10-15mins, I have to stretch my legs to get quick relief.

I would like to know is there is any permanent remedy for this and whether this is of anything serious.

Thank you,

I'm 32 and I get cramps in my calf muscles and if I don't stretch them the pain gets worse, and the crazy thing is that when I get hotter they hurt more, but most of the time if I'm on the move then they don't hurt. And also if I have longer socks on and they start cramping, if I take them off my legs don't cramp as bad... It seems like my right leg messes with me more than the left, which I was in a three wheeler wreck when I was 16 and flipped several times and the wheel landed under my leg and I couldn't walk for a little bit. Don't know if that has anything to do with my legs or not. Can anyone help me?????????????????

I have graves disease.  I've been taking tapizole for some time now.  I have also been taking beta blockers for 6 months or a bit more.  I take vitamins every day.  About two weeks ago, I ran out of vitamins & didn't have them for about 10 days.  Last week, my legs started to cramp & ache.  Actually the pain went form my buttocks down to the back of my feet.  Sometimes its so painful, I can hardly walk.  I dread going up the stairs.  Besides the pain, I feel heat being released from the back of my legs.  (I know this sounds strange but this is the only way to explain.) I've ben out of work for over two years & have an interview in four days.  Can anyone suggest a temporary relief of this pain so I may be able to go for my job interview?  Better yet, can anyone diagnose what is happening to my legs?

Hello!

I would suggest physiotherapy for your mother.

This is most probably related to muscle cramps or it can be nerve related.

Give her anti inflammatory medications, use ice packs to calm her down and also massage and exercise her calf muscles.

Also get an ultrasound doppler done to rule out any peripheral artery disease. Follow up with a neurologist and give her multivitamin supplements.

Take care!

Hi,

Well, I don’t think it has got anything to do with the nerve and it is probably due to the muscle cramps/strain. I hope you are doing enough warm up exercises before actually playing cricket and strenuous running/playing without a proper warmup can result in such symptoms and I don’t see anything serious in it.

I hope that helped. Please do keep me posted.

Best regards.
