Trouble losing weight even with excercise

I have been over weight most of my life.  Over the last 7 years I have been on a roller coaster, losing up to 15 lbs and then gaining that back within a year time frame.  Plus, I have not been able to lose more then 15 lbs.  For the last 6 weeks, I have been working with a personal trainer 2x a week, I walk 1.75 miles twice a week during my lunch and every day I walk just over a 1/2 mile to and from the train in order to go to work.  Just recently I added in another day of jogging 1.5 miles on the treadmill at the gym. I make an effort to eat healthy but of course I will have one day a week where I might have a piece of cake, ice cream, french fries but most of the week I am sticking to protein, fruits and veggies and limit my bread intake to mornings.  I've had my thyroid checked and all levels are fine.

Since I have been working out I have gained more then 10 lbs.  I can see muscle forming and I know I am getting stronger but my waistline isn't getting smaller and my clothes don't feel different except they are getting tighter.  Right now I am limited to what I can wear because my clothes are getting tighter.

I am frustrated and don't understand why I'm having such a hard time dropping weight.  Any help would be greatly appreciatedd!!

Hi,
The best way to lose weight is not only by diet and exercise but also keeping your mind healthy. Be optimistic and try to think what is the reason for your weight gain. You can also try eating six small meals a day instead of three. Also sometimes we don’t realize how much calories are actually there in a particular food item. I would suggest you to read labels carefully before consuming any food. Hope this helps!

hi lori,
I have also been on a diet and exercise plan...keep on going its frustrating but in the long run your efforts will show! Try to add as much activity as possible...parking your car further, taking that extra step each day! When i first started I had that same problem but i kept at it and now i have lost 18 lbs...the weight you have gained is muscle, you need the muscle t burn fat..The best advice I can give you is keep going at it! Don't give up!!!! Keep in mind that you choose to be healthy..you choose not to be fat! I'm telling you the best thing you can do is be in this mentally! Your mind is a powerful source of if you are going to loose weight or not...don't deprive your self..cut down the portion..I bought billy blanks get amped and that has  helped me big time! the moves are not hard and he has been in the business a really long time and if you keep on the pounds will melt off! any advice i can give i will! I had the same problems but first thing is you must mentally be in this! I also have a treadmill and i put it on level 10 incline and work my speed up t0 3.5 and watch my dvr shows and before i knew it i had melted off 600 cals!
