wish my question would get a response from somebody

Ok, I had four children of my 22 year marriage.  I workout pretty regularly.  My diet is very healthy.  But My belly button area, I just do not seem to be able to get rid of.  No matter what form of diet I do.  How do I bring up this hernia idea to my family doctor.  I have mentioned that I do not like how I look- I always look like I am pregnant and I do not want to look like this anymore.  It does not hurt, only during intercourse at times when the area of my belly button hurts.  I try many forms of ab workouts.  Now I have a herniated disk in my L5/6, so with PT, I am doing a lot of workouts for my core, and it has been four years.  You would think I would see any improvements in my belly button area.  I would like to have it addressed.  How do I address it with my Family Doctor?  Is there anything I can do more than what I am doing to help get it back into shape?  I hope you are able to guide me.  I miss going to a real good doctor that cares and likes to listen to their patients with their concerns and needs.  Thank you.

FOR HEAVEN"S sake - get a doctor to confirm that you have a hernia. If you do, get it fixed. Currently there are minimally invasive surgical procedures. If it gets worse, it could be a danger to your life. My sister currently in a very serious situation, she has ignored the early signs when it would have been a simple procedure to deal with it.
Good luck, take care of yourself.

thank you for your post. I think I am just going to be more forward with the doctor, and like you said, give more details.  Thanks.

What does your PT say to your inquiries re a hernia?  His or her reaction may be a good lead in to speaking with your doctor. Is there a second doc in your pcp office? You could set up an appt with an associate and poing out that the area is painful and is not responding to diet or PT. Sometime doc's need the patient to point out the problems the specific area is causing his/her patient. Your complaint is legitimate and needs attention from your doc. Had a relative let a hernia go and it became strangled. He is fine but had too much pride to speak with his doctor after persistent
pain with a cold and cough. Good luck. Sometimes writing down your answers to possible questions your doctor may ask as a result of your
request is a help and will reduce your stress. For example the type and time the abdomen hurts you. How often. You need to paint a clear picture of your concern. IE It hurts every day and is more annoying than last time I had an appointment with you. Sorry to say but it up to you to get the docs attention. Hope this helps you. Please don't postpone your appointment.

just a small suggestion, have you tried cutting back on bread, pasta and potatos as these can cause your middle to look bloated,

with the way the insurances work, I need a referral to see one.  So!  with that I have to go see my family doctor and get evaluated and then referred to one.  It is not that simple.  If it was, I would go ahead and see a doctor and had it all taken care of.

I am not getting the results from this site.  I just wanted to know how to address this to a professional, a family doctor, especially since they said that they do not see an issue.

I know, but the doctors do not seem to think I do just by looking at me.  So, it just gets ignored.  There are not that many "good" drs here in PA anymore.

but how do I bring it up with my doctors?  They have seen me and do not think it is hernia when looking at me.  So they just brush it off.  So, I would like advice on how to bring it up with the doctors so that it can get better attention.

If you have a hernia, then you should see a surgeon! Only surgery will fix the problem.
