IOL removal/replacement

Cataract surgery 6 weeks ago resulted in very poor eyesight. Lens design is incorrect due to faulty measurement or "unusual eye geometry".  While it is correctable by very strong glasses, the resulting differences between the two eyes is difficult to tolerate. A correct IOL could now be calculated based on current IOL design and refraction data.  QUESTION: What are the complexities, dangers, and down sides of removal and replacement of the IOL?

I ALSO HAD NEGATIVE RESULT (WITH NEW RESTOR LENS).  I ALSO FEEL CALCULATIONS WERE OFF, OR MY CORNEA WAS UNSTABLE FROM 40 YRS OF WEARING HARD CONTACTS.  MY DR.'S ANSWER TO THIS IS LASIK SURGERY AS A "TUNE-UP."  ANY COMMENTS???

what type of A-Scan was the doctor using?  The new IOL Master from Zeiss Humphrey is one of the best.  Most of the imersion A-scans are still the gold standard.  Did you have a very dense cataract? IOL exchange usually is low risk, but if things don't go so well, your looking at replacing the lens with one that goes in the anterior chamber instead of the posterier chamber (more desirable).  The risks of glaucoma go up with the anterior chamber lens, and any time you have to go back into the eye, your risk of retinal detachment, edema, and infection increase also.

Are you sure you want this doctor to do the second procedure?  maybe think about a second opinion, with another A-scan to be sure.  This is unusual these days, with the upgrades to all the technology.  Some doctors refuse to upgrade, and get into trouble.

it is generally more difficult and more risky than your original surgery.  the capsule is fragile and difficult to work with.
