contacts always cloudy

I have had an issue with my left eye for 5 mons now where my RGP contact stays coated with a milky substance that never seems to go away.My right eye has a little of this too but not as bad as the left. The left eye actually feels swollen to some extent. I've changed out contacts a few times but that had no effect or even aggravated the condition worse.. My doctor had me try Restasis for dry eye for a month but no change (that just seemed to sting). I know it has to be an allergy related issue since I do have sinus problems but I'd welcome anyone else's comments on why my eyes/ contacts won't clear up..
thx..DannyB

sounds like possible GPC to me (gian papillary conjunctivitis).  its an inflammatory condition related to 'lid interaction' with the edge of the lens, also related to allergies.  causes: swollen lid, discomfort, excessive lens movement, excessive lens deposition and 'stringy' discharge.  fix is temporary lens wear discontinuation and/or topical steroid use.

I'm so glad you came on here to post your concern.  I had asked my eye doc about RGP's once but he told me that if I have a dry eye condition, the lens may start moving around too much and could cause corneal abrasions.  Are soft lenses not an option for you?  Have you discussed the discontinuing of the Restasis with your doctor?  Stinging can be a normal side-effect with that medicine.  Are you taking any decongestants?  I had to lay off the decongestants because it aggravated my dry-eye.  Take care!!

My wife has a severe dry eye condition in her left eye and has been using Restasis for about 2 years.  It has worked very well for her.  It took about 2 weeks before she saw results from the Restasis. Her doctor said that it sometines takes up to 6 weeks to see results and that not everyone is helped by the Restasis.  Her doctor said that she has had the best results of any of her patients.  I am curious about contacts and dry eye.  My wife's doctor does not recommend contacts for her because of the dry eye condition.  I used to wear soft contacts but had to give them up because of dry eyes in the winter.
