6th nerve palsy upsetting!

I have found this group and am suffering 6th nerve palsy after a Myelogram went wrong and CSF (spinal fluid) leaked so much that the 6th nerve was stretched out and now is causing double vision. A blood patch was attempted to close up the CSF leak but the double vision persists.

I cried when I read the discussion here and don't know how I will cope for apparently weeks of recovery. My family has been taking care of me for 7 weeks now after a cervical spinal fusion and disc replacement. Now this! I will start taking B complex vitimans. I am so upset and feel helpless. I can't even imagine driving with a patch on my eye. I would think this is very dangerous for myself and others on the road. I alrady have not been able to drive for 7 weeks so, just when I was hoping to be more independant I am feeling trapped again. I live in a very remote area and feel like cabin fever has really set in. I started seeing double July 5th 2011, was in the ER and kept over night where the did MRI and CAT scan of the brain. Any help and suggestions would be great. I wasn't quite sure how to add to this forum.

I saw the Neurologist today. He showed me my MRI which indicated a classic case of 6th nerve palsy due to the leakage of spinal fluid. He said there was some improvement as my left eye was tracking better. As of 2 days ago I have been able to focus closeup. The doctor said to make sure to switch the patch from one eye to the other or the brain will shut off  to that eye and improvement will be slower. Ultamately the doctor said it should resolve in three months. We shall hopefully see.... (I hope)

I have not found anything out yet. I did notice that it has gotten worse since the onset. In the beginning I could focus withj my reading glasses on to things close up. but now everything is double. Sat. I have appointment with the Neurologist who saw me in the ER. So hopefully he can measure my progress. I find a patch over one eye makes it a little easier for me but still driving me crazy!
