We were just talking about this at the office tonight. Using the betadine is a very, very good way to go. You really want to keep the risk of infection to the minimum since bacteria in the posterior chamber of the eye can be devestating. Be thankful, that your retinal specialist is being careful and thorough. Sometimes they can use a 5% solution instead of the full 10% for a little less burning. Maybe they can give you some lubricating ointment or artificial tears to help with the irritation. You may have dry eyes also which makes the situation worse. Try preservative free artificial tears every 30 minutes or so for a day or two after the injections (as well as the usual antibiotic drop you are prescribed) and also tell the doctor about the burning and he may be able to help in some other ways. Don't despair, this is standard technique to use the betadine.
