Black dot in my vision

All day long I see a black dot almost directly in front of my right eye.  Its most noticable when I look at something white.  Sometimes I will rub my eye it will go away for a while, but it always comes back.  Its been happening for a couple months now.  I work at a computer all day long and its been driving me crazy watching it move around the screen as I read.

Dear jlive1980,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD to determine the cause.  It may represent a floater as result of a posterior vitreous detachment; however, you need to be checked .

i would have it checked by opthalmologist as soon as you can. floaters can be an indication of something serious.
