Cateract Surgery Complication

After my recent Cateract surgery (2nd eye, 1st eye had no issues)  I see things floating in my eye.    I did not have them before the surgery.    My eye is red and irritable.   The doctor told me to use Pred forte every 2 hours and gave me an additional med to dialate my eye 3x daily for 4 days until I see him again on Friday.   He said that the particles are normally absorbed by the eye over time but in my case they may be irritating it.   He said surgery may be needed to remove them.   My question is if this is normal?   Was it caused by a surgery error or is it one of those things.   I can't find any web site saying that this is a normal thing to happen after the surgery.

The opthomologist referred to me a Retina specialist.   He performed a victrectomy (spelling?) last Friday.   When he was doing that he found a tear on one side of the Retina and a hole on the other.

Does that add any more to it?
