Convergence Insufficiency or Eye Strain? Help!

Roughly 3 years ago I went for a eye test after getting severe headaches and the optician told me my vision was fine, but I needed glasses with slight prisms.
Last week (After 3 months of unbearable headaches) I went back for an eye test and the optician said again.. My vision is fine but I had poor control over my eyes.

Ever since I can remember my eyes have caused problems. Every single time I go on holiday or its sunny, I have what is always diagnosed as conjunctivitis, but I am convinced is just sore dry eyes. They itch and go all red.
Recently my eyes just constantly ache, even with my glasses on. They feel heavy and over worked. I am a student so do spend alot of time reading ect.. But they are so painful..
Also.. I dont know if this is related.. But, my friends all laugh because I cant go cross eyed, and when they tryed to teach my by keeping focus on a pencil and bringing it in.. As the pencil nears my nose, one eye just shoots off outwards!!
I have been using eye soothing gel and such, but can anyone suggest how I can make the pain go?
Thanks

seek an MD (ophthamologist) not an optician (who all he/she knows how to sell you glasses. You sound you have and eye problem not a vision one.

Did you get the prisms that your optician recommended?  If they didn't help, than I'd suggest that you get another opinion from an eye care professional who is experienced treating strabismus (even though you may not have that condition).  Not all doctors are good at prescribing prism, which might relieve your eye strain.

Dear natley1986,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD to determine the motility of your eyes and to recommend treatment options. It is possible that convergence insufficiency can cause eye strain.
