Unless things are looking like they are deteriorating actively, I would wait for the retina specialist a month. If things are getting worse, call them again and explain, they may find a spot to fit you in.

Thank you for your response. I spoke to his office but they won't see him because he is 10. They only see patients 19 and up. They are getting a pediatric retina specialist but not for another month. Any other recommendations? Thank you!
Dr. Chang at Columbia has a very good reputation but I'm not sure if he sees children. Call his office. It should not make a difference with his age given his eye is near adult size at this point. You should simply want the best retina surgeon around.
