Eye dr found nothing

Hi, I went to see an eye specialist, not just a dr for glasses.  He found nothing and said my eyes were fine.
However, I am getting grey shadows and if I had to drive on a Sunny day, I'd have to do it with the right eye closed.
From what I am finding on the internet, I may have dry macular degenration.
I do hve a gp dr's appointment in 2 weeks, and I will tell her the condition is getting worse.  But my concern is is this treatable?  I guess I am worried as I read this can be passed on from generation to generation.  My cousin had a brain tumor.........could that cause the grey areas?   This sort of started when I went thru Chemo for another type of cancer.

I am 59 yrs old.   I'm worried.   I want to know if this is treatable with drugs, in case my Dr plays stupid with me, and suggests a zillion tests that I can't afford. (I am in an area, where all the Dr/s use the same facility.  They run tests and do multiple xrays and such and never find out what things are!

Does anthing help like eye drops ?
Thanks
Marcia

Dear Sunshine7439,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD to detect the cause of your shadows.  Have you had the prescription for glasses checked?  Does this help if you wear them?

Well I feel bad for all the worrying you have had to go through.  You are really kind of jumping to too many conclusions on your own and you need to take a step back and just get a second opinion, carefully explaining your symptoms to the second ophthalmologist. I'm sure that a thorough exam will help to unravel this mystery.  I certainly don't have enough info to make a diagnosis here.  Cataracts and macular degeneration are fairly common in older people, and they will be checked for.  Good Luck.
