Glasses v. Contacts - Difference of prescription

Hi,
I went for my regularly scheduled eye exam. While I was in the office the optometrist stated my eyes didn't change and we discussed the use of contacts (I only wear them on weekends/days off work due to dry eyes staring at a computer all day). He gave me a set of Biofinity contacts to try for the weekdays. I checked the prescription when I got home and it had been increased from my old (-0.75 to -1.00 and -1.00 to -1.25). I contacted the optometrist and he indicated that he did increase my prescription slightly.

I have tried these contacts and the comfort is great, but I can not see as clear as I can with my glasses at my old prescription. They are obviously blurry and worse to see - my eyes feel like they are straining to see clearly.

I have a couple of questions:
1. Will wearing the increased prescription in the contacts on weekends/days off hurt my eyes if they are obviously blurrier than my glasses?
2. Should a new prescription "hurt" to look through and give you headaches?

Thanks!

There is no reason to increase the prescription. Usually for glasses prescription above -4.00 we decrease the contact lens power due to the physics of optics.
