Berrywoo is mostly correct.  Amblyopia is an eye that never develops normal vision usually due tosuch things as lots of astigmatism or farsightedness or esotropia (turned in eye) or exotropia (crossed out eye) or damage to cornea, retina or a congenital cataract.  It can be treated with patching or dilating drops and of course proper glasses. Sometimes surgery for the strabismus is also needed as an adjunct.  In general, the earlier treatment is started the better and consistency is extremely.  Treatment after age 9 or 10 or 11 is usually not going to help because the amblyopia will be permanant by then.

Lazy eye is a common term that can mean either a crossed eye (in or out) or amblyopia so you really need to specify with more exact terms - a good habit to get into if you have a strong interest in your health.

jnitro26, is confusing "lazy eye" with "crossed eye". Lazy eye is technically termed amblyopia. "crossed eye" is known as strabismus.

Amblyopia really can't be corrected after early childhood. At you're age you've passed the point where even if your "bad" eye improved, you're brain would probably not be able to fuse the two seperate images from each eye all that well. If you wanted to try though, you could talk w/ your doctor about patching or using atropine drops in your "good" eye. Currently there is no surgical correction for amblyopia.

So before you had the sugery done, did your eye look normal or did you have a squint or anything. Because i have been told numerous times you can not get a operation Amblyopia(lazy eye) as there isn't one about?
