Strabismus is also needed as an adjunct. In general, the earlier treatment is started the better and consistency is extremely. Treatment after age 9 or 10 or 11 is usually not going to help because the amblyopia will be permanant by then.
Lazy eye is a common term that can mean either a crossed eye (in or out) or amblyopia so you really need to specify with more exact terms - a good habit to get into if you have a strong interest in your health.

Amblyopia really can't be corrected after early childhood. At you're age you've passed the point where even if your "bad" eye improved, you're brain would probably not be able to fuse the two seperate images from each eye all that well. If you wanted to try though, you could talk w/ your doctor about patching or using atropine drops in your "good" eye. Currently there is no surgical correction for amblyopia.
