I was diagnosed with "Pink Eye" around October 1st of 2016. It was an intense case from the beginning that lasted all the way up until Thanksgiving time in the end November . With over a 2 months period of treatment, the redness and crust went away, but I noticed that my eye was still significantly smaller than the other, in photographs ,and in the mirror.
It was as if the pink eye was still there with out the redness and crustiness. It is now a year later and I suffer from having a eye that is slightly smaller (not symmetrical anymore) and subtle throbbing/irritation, also getting significantly more red than the other eye when swimming or smoking.
During the first 2 months time of the pink eye I saw about 3 different doctors. The first one was an urgent care doctor, and gave me "Sulfacetamide Sodium Ophtalmic Solution USP, 10%" in which I took for probably 5-7 days before seeing a more specialized doctor.
I switched to and ophthalmologist who re-guided & provided me "Tobramycin and Dexomethasone Ophtalmic Suspension" which I learned has a steroid in it. I did this for about 2 weeks, with not much difference overall, leading me to about a whole month of pink eye.
At first I was convinced that this 2nd doctor was good and this was the answer. I remember the infection was almost gone, battling the steroids off and on, winning and losing. As the situation was an intense case that wasn't fully healing after a month, I switched to another ophthalmologist.
I got a 3rd opinion, who said the steroid should've did the job as well but, he decided to try a new method. I was provided an oral azithromycin Z-Pack along with Azasite Azithromycin eye drops which definitely provided some much needed mercy on me and my poor eye.
BUT I noticed, the redness was gone and most of the puss, BUT my eye was looking inflamed still, causing the eye to look more closed that the other. Not to mention throbbing sensations off and on. So about 3 months in I gave my 3rd doctor this info and complaint, in which we have done the same remedy about 2 more times of "oral and eye drop form of Azithromycin" over about 6 months time of the initial star date of the pink eye case until I kinda gave up on this doctor an his ambition to fully cure my situation.
After the doctor seemed to say I was pretty much better, but I still had complaints of my new and un-improved "Un- symmetrical eye" and the throbbing sensations, I was sent to about 2 of his colleges who didn't have much different to say, or just diagnose me as having allergies.
It makes me sick to my stomach
In my personal search and knowing my body, the eyes seems like it still being irritated by something OR the medicines have taken there toll? Or even both? maybe the infection is hiding and has built immunity to the topical drops.
Ive even went to lengths of using natural remedies like Manuka honey and colloidal silver.
Still looking for an answer and help, maybe its deeper than just the eye?
Any opinions or similar situations? Other remedies to try? (preferably natural)
